Chicago Family receives grants

October 10, 2007

Two generous grants were made to Chicago Family Health Center in the past month, allowing it to continue its mission to provide healthcare to the underserved communities of South Chicago, Roseland, Pullman and surrounding communities. Chicago Family was awarded $15,000 from the W.P. and H.B. White Foundation for the uninsured fund and $5,000 from VNA Foundation to be applied to the Mobile Health Team’s Homeless Program.

“I am thrilled with the financial support of both the White Foundation and the VNA Foundation,” CEO Wendy Cox said. “It is because of the generous support of foundations like these that we can provide healthcare services to the community.”

Each year, the number of uninsured and underinsured patients seeking care from Chicago Family grows. In 2006, Chicago Family provided $3.5 million to charity care. Chicago Family is seeking the assistance of outside donors to provide services to underinsured and uninsured patients. With a grant in the amount of $15,000, W.P. and H.B. White Foundation has stepped up to help the residents of South Chicago and surrounding communities receive the healthcare they deserve. Funding from the White Foundation will allow Chicago Family to provide healthcare services to approximately 28 patients. The White Foundation joins Blue Cross Blue Shield and a private family foundation in supporting this program.

The VNA Foundation announced its support of Chicago Family’s mobile health team’s homeless program. VNA has granted $5,000 in support. The funding from VNA Foundation will allow Chicago Family to provide on-site healthcare to children and adults at seven homeless shelters on the south side of Chicago.
