Chicago Family Health Center celebrates 30 years of service

Chicago Family Health Center concluded another successful Healing Hands Dinner. Two-hundred people gathered at the Mid-Day Club for Chicago Family Health Center’s annual Healing Hands fundraiser on Friday. Leanne Trotter emceed the evening’s festivities were highlighted by the awarding of Representative Barbara Flynn Currie as the Healing Hands recipient, as well as the premier of a Chicago Family Health Center promotional video. In addition, Board Member Lolly Rodriquez was honored for her 25 years of service to the Center.

This year, marked an important milestone for CFHC — its 30th anniversary. This 30th anniversary is especially exciting for CFHC as it has recently opened a fourth location as well as nearing the completion of South Chicago Center expansion. The Center’s 30 years of accomplishments were the focus of the Chicago Family Health Center video, which premiered during the event. The heartfelt video included testimonies by staff, board members, and most importantly, recipients of CFHC services.

Those people who played an integral part in the recent growth of the Center were honored, as was Illinois State Representative Barbara Flynn Currie. Representative Currie was the recipient of the 2007 Healing Hands award, which was accepted on her behalf by John Fox. State Representative Barbara Flynn Currie represents the 25th District. She has served the people of the 25th District since 1979, rising to the position of Assistant Majority Leader in 1993 and Assistant Democratic Leader in 1995. In 1997, she became the first woman Majority Leader in the history of the Illinois General Assembly. As the second ranking House official, Currie works closely with the Governor and with colleagues from both parties and all regions of the state to fashion solutions to the problems that face Illinois. During her tenure she has been a strong advocate for working families and children.
