CFHC to provide assistance in enrolling children in new program
Chicago Family Health Center (CFHC) is continuing its partnership with the State of Illinois in enrolling children age 18 or younger who live with their families in the state’s new health-care program, All Kids. The program was developed as a comprehensive adaptation of the Illinois KidCare program, which provided health care to children from low-income families.
The program ensures that all children will have access to health care regardless of income or medical condition. All Kids pays for doctor visits, hospital visits, dental care, vision care, prescription drugs, medical equipment, mental health services and much more. The program costs less than private insurance and is based on a family's income and size. Children who are not currently enrolled in the KidCare program must meet eligibility requirements. Children who are currently enrolled in the existing KidCare program have been folded into the All Kids program.
“The program is an important breakthrough in ensuring that all children have access to the health care they need,” says Wendy Cox, Chief Executive Officer of Chicago Family Health Center. “As a community health center, we feel it’s important that everyone has access to quality, comprehensive health care, and this program will help provide that access to all children.”
As a supporter of the program, Chicago Family Health Center will provide assistance to any family that wants to apply for coverage under this new program. Help is available during clinic hours and anyone interested in applying should contact the Family Case Management department at (773) 768-5000.
Chicago Family Health Center is a community-based, non-profit health center that provides comprehensive, accessible primary healthcare to the residents of South Chicago, Roseland and surrounding communities. In 2005, CFHC served more than 17,000 patients, regardless of their ability to pay.
