First Phase of South Chicago expansion complete

On April 23, 2007, Chicago Family Health Center patients for the first time stepped into the newly expanded South Chicago Facility to seek healthcare. The opening of the expansion marks the completion of the first phase of construction. The second phase will be completed in to coming weeks, with a ribbon-cutting planned for late summer.

The expansion is a response to the community's growing demand for healthcare services. The new expansion increases the total number of exam rooms to 30. As patients enter the facility, they are greeted by a front desk reception area, six registration bays and a large waiting room. The facility has a separate triage area and nurses stations leading to separate hallways for each Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and OB/GYN.

The second phase of construction, which includes the renovation of the existing building including a major renovation to the dental department, is underway. When completed, the facility will have three additional dental chairs- from 5 to 8. The renovation will also allow Chicago Family Health Center to bring together other essential services that have been housed off site including Developmental Disabilities, Family Case Management and Outreach.

The expansion furthers our commitment to the South Chicago community and our mission to provide comprehensive, quality healthcare to all residents of this community.
