Commonwealth Edison has a strong tradition of community stewardship, and it has proven its commitment to the community by becoming actively involved in Chicago Family Health Center’s Promoting healthy families. Building stronger communities. The 30th anniversary campaign for Chicago Family Health Center campaign. Not only has Frank Clark, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ComEd, volunteered to serve as the honorary chairperson for the capital campaign, but ComEd has also donated a lead gift.
“Chicago Family Health Center’s legacy as an extraordinary institution that improves the quality of life for children and families will continue with innovative programming,” said Clark.
ComEd, and more specifically, Frank Clark and Fidel Marquez’s, ComEd vice president of external affairs, relationship with the Center began long before they made their generous contribution; both are from the community served by CFHC, and Mr. Marquez was a patient of CFHC as a child.
Their paths crossed with CFHC again in 2005, when Mr. Marquez was invited to CFHC to discuss the future of the organization, including the recent South Chicago expansion. Because of ComEd’s commitment to giving back to the community, particularly where employees and customers are, they made their first gift to the Center. Since then, CFHC and ComEd have built a partnership dedicated to serving the much-deserving residents of South Chicago and surrounding communities.
ComEd is a unit of Chicago-based Exelon Corporation (NYSE: EXC), one of the nation’s largest electric utilities with more than $15 billion in annual revenues and a customer base of 5.2 million.
