Amy Rodriguez
Chief Financial Officer, Chicago Family Health Center
Amy Rodriguez epitomizes community leadership. A dedicated employee of Chicago Family Health Center for the past 26 years, Amy believes in giving back to her community and helping others realize their potential. To further her commitment to the Center, the community and its uninsured patients, Amy has made a generous gift to the Center, allowing her naming rights to one of the new exam rooms.
“Amy exemplifies the heart and soul of what community health centers stand for,” said Wendy Cox, Chicago Family Health Center CEO.
Not long after Chicago Family Health Center opened its doors Amy was hired as a temporary replacement for the executive secretary. In that position, her work ethic and dedication to community service became apparent. She was soon offered a permanent position in the finance department as a clerk. Over the next 26 years, she moved among various finance positions, while also earning a bachelor of arts degree from DePaul University with a concentration in finance. Amy now serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the organization.
Her passion for and commitment to the Center is the result of a philosophy she learned from Carmen Mendoza, who served as Executive Director for CFHC from 1980 to 1991.
“Carmen Mendoza showed us that when there is a need at home you need to take care of it, and there is a great need in our community,” Amy said. “We need to educate people – we need to be advocates and teachers.”
Amy is just that — an educator and a teacher. In addition to her work at CFHC, she is active in the community and in her church. She recently completed a two-year lay ministry program of the Archdiocese, The Called and Gifted Program.
Amy’s gift confirms her commitment to the organization and to the betterment of the community. Through her employee leadership gift, she has set a precedent from which we hope the staff and community may learn.
